Molly with Mayor and Mayoress at birthday partyHappy 100th birthday Molly!

There was a special birthday celebration for Molly Whittingham when the Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Alex Black, and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Janet Black, joined 100 other friends and family at the Uniting Church in Garden Lane, Chester.

Molly was born on 15 November 1918, christened at Garden Lane Methodist Church later that year and has attended that church throughout her life - seeing it join together with the Sealand Road United Reformed Church to become the Uniting Church in Garden Lane. She married her husband Paul Ward Whittingham at the church on 2 October 1965, was for many years a Sunday School teacher and until recently the church organist.

To mark her special day, Molly also received greetings from Her Majesty the Queen. In lieu of birthday presents, Molly asked that donations be given to the Local charity Save the Family and a Methodist world mission charity called All We Can. Over £700 was donated.
