It's the season for giving, and St John’s URC Warrington have come up with an unusual way to give to the community. Since the summer church members have been knitting angels and they made 70 in all, with different coloured faces.
Starting in December they have been putting each angel in a plastic bag with a written message from the church and tied them to the railings outside church for people to take an angel for themselves or to bless others with. The written message said ‘A gift to you, please take me home. This angel comes with God’s blessing this Christmas from all at St John’s Church.’ The angels have been disappearing very quickly!
Meanwhile, Southport and Formby URC churches, and joint URC/Methodist and URC/Baptist, are planning the finishing touches to their Nativity Festival. They have invited organisations within the churches to provide a nativity scene, which could be made or bought, and then the public invited, with proceeds to charity. There will even be a DIY one, with a cardboard box stable for people to put themselves in the picture, inviting visitors to add to the scene.
