Choir raises money for Lifeboats
May 2021: Grange URC Choir Director Martin Morris explained...
We have been singing for many years, a happy band of amateur singers who just love to sing. The pandemic changed the way we did it. Each of the choir came together, separately one by one, to record their voices. These were then mixed with backing tracks to make the individual voices sound like our choir.
Over the past eight months we have recorded eight hymns and these can be heard and seen on our YouTube Channel:
Those who know the choir are aware that we normally sing outside a local Tesco at Christmas time to raise funds for Hoylake RNLI. This was something that we could not do last Christmas so we asked for donations towards a copy of a CD of our hymns. A total of £450 was raised and this was presented to Harry Jones (Mechanic/Hovercraft Commander) and Brian Jordan (Lifeboats Visits Officer) on 25 May.
Sarah Landon (Vocal Arranger), who is seen jointly presenting the cheque with Martin Morris, has arranged the Christmas fundraising every year since 2006. Including our CD funds this year, our choir has raised a total of £4,145 for Hoylake RNLI.
