Easter gifts

Easter giftJane Burgess, of Christ Church Haydock, explained why her church has been providing Easter and Christmas gifts.

'We have been looking at the course Holy Habits over the last year and, despite lockdown, have been challenged as a group to respond in a small way to what we have learnt. We wanted to reach out into our community and do something positive. So at Christmas, using some contacts in three local primary schools, we asked if they had any children who might benefit from a gift. We planned to get about ten selection boxes for the children but in the end we completed 21 large boxes full of goodies and practical items, which we thought would bless them and their families. The head teachers distributed them and they were received with much gratitude.

Appreciation

'At Easter, we created a gift bundle of a pair of pyjamas and an Easter egg for ten children from two schools. The pyjamas were given to us from a local Baptist church. Our life group got some joy out of doing this and each gift was received with much thanks and appreciation.

'We would all recommend the Holy Habits course. As a life group it has brought us closer together as friends and has challenged us and inspired us. We are so looking forward to meeting up again. Zoom meetings have been great but it's not quite the same as face to face gatherings!'
