The 5 Marks of Mission
The Five Marks of Mission are often abbreviated to five words: TELL – TEACH – TEND – TRANSFORM – TREASURE.
Developed by the Anglican Consultative, they have been widely adopted as an understanding of what contemporary mission is about.
· To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom.
·
To teach,
baptise and nurture new believers.
·
To
respond to human need by loving service.
·
To seek
to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind
and to pursue peace and reconciliation.
·
To strive
to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the
earth.
In a succinct way, the Five Marks of Mission offer a framework for mission and ministry work. For many, the work of the Five Marks is already part of a congregational or personal mission program. This framework fits into and alongside the other targeted work church might already be part of such as the LICC learning hub or Leading Your Church into Growth.
