Oakvale URC

Oakvale URC put up their Christmas tree and set up their Experience Christmas Stations around the Church. The first event was the Parade and Gift Service led by the Moderator of Mersey Synod, Revd Geoff Felton. The Scout Groups and congregation brought in 105 toys, which were then taken to the Salvation Army for distribution in time for Christmas.

On 4th and 6th December, two local schools (Broadgreen and Northway) came to Oakvale URC. Year 5 pupils told the rest of the school the story of Christmas using Oakvale’s Experience Christmas stations. The building was full of children. On the 10th December they had a Christingle Service which was led by the Revd Heather MacLeod.

St John’s URC

Fourteen members of St John’s URC went Carol singing in Morrisons. It was a wonderful time of praise and witnessing to customers. They gave out 350 flyers for their Christmas services and the band concert.

Gail Yorke, an Elder at St John’s URC commented:

”I am passionate about this event as it is a great way to share the meaning and joy of Christmas. These are carols people will be familiar with so it is a wonderful way to fulfil Jesus mission for us to go out and make disciples of people through showing His love to others.

“This event gave not only St John’s a presence in the community, but with 14 of us gathered, God was in our midst. We only have to sow the seed through singing and being invitational. God's Holy Spirit will do the rest.”
