TELL TEACH TEND TRANSFORM TREASURE

URC Mersey is committed to helping churches be more mission minded. We want our churches to reach people of all generations, so they come to faith and make a difference in the wider community

Mersey Synod Missional Discipleship Enabler

Stuart Radcliffe is the Mersey Synod Missional Discipleship Enabler, working with church communities to help them see that mission and the growing and making of disciples, is not to be feared. Together we can find ways to share the love of Christ in and with the communities God calls us all to serve. Whether you have ideas for outreach and evangelism or want to find ways to help your community grow in their daily walk with Jesus, Stuart can advise on options to help you get started. If you would like to talk about this more then please get in touch, he would love to hear your ideas and join your excitement in planning for the future.

Being Church

Leading your Church into Growth

The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC)

This is the URC discipleship development programme that is perfect if you are keen to reflect on, and develop your Christian faith, are ready to be stimulated and challenged, and want to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others. Stepwise is shaped around your strengths and needs, in the context of your own community and church. It emphasises the importance of learning from your daily life – wherever you are and whoever God might be calling you to be.

Stepwise is about what we, as the people of God, can become together as we share God’s love in the world.

Mission and discipleship toolbox

Mission is about sharing God’s vision of justice and love for all people in the world around us, including our local neighbourhood. Discipleship is about recognising and responding to God’s presence in every aspect of our lives and, as church members, helping each other to do that.

You can download the mission and discipleship toolbox here

Webinars with our Missional Discipleship Enabler

An ongoing series of webinars with Stuart Radcliffe and mission practitioners have been designed to help those listening delve deeper into issues around mission, discipleship and church growth.

The Five Marks of Mission offer a framework for mission and ministry work

They are often abbreviated into five words:

TELL – TEACH – TEND – TRANSFORM – TREASURE

This fits into, and alongside, the other targeted work your church might already be part of such as the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) Learning Hub or Leading Your Church into Growth

Developed by the Anglican Consultative, they have been widely adopted as an understanding of what contemporary mission is about:

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom

  • To teach, baptise and nurture new believers

  • To respond to human need by loving service

  • To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation

  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
