Synod Property Fund

In recognition of our ownership responsibilities, Synod holds some funds for the potential of providing a grant, or loan, to churches to support them in carrying out building work. This is not an exhaustive sum of money, however, and is carefully managed to ensure availability to those in most need.

Synod has a Grant Finder who can work with the church to help source funding for a building project. It may also be possible to combine money from Synod to use as a “first funder” to an external body as often having already secured a proportion of the total cost can strengthen an application. If you need any help or would like to discuss this issue, please contact Synod Grants Finder, Helen McCormack, grantsadmin@urcmerseysynod.org.uk.

Applications to Synod Property Fund

Applying for funding for a building project is a two stage process and is dependent on the value of the work and how the need for the work has arisen. All funding requests are considered jointly by the Synod Pastoral Committee and Resources Committee. Click here to find out more.

Documentation

As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide the church most recent financial accounts as well as the Being Church report. If you haven’t yet undertaken a Being Church assessment, you will be asked to undertake it before any consideration for funding, as this forms a fundamental part of the assessment criteria.
