An opportunity for us to share God’s word: Christ Church Haydock’s Junior Youth Club’s Synod Mission Grant
Christ Church Haydock URC’s Junior Youth Club is open to all primary school age children in the community and is growing by the week with nearly 70 members. Children start off by listening to a short talk based around God’s word before choosing from a range of activities: football, table tennis, board games or crafts. Throughout the year, the Church also holds a number of ‘family night’ events which again provide the opportunity for to share God’s word, not only with the children, but with their parents too.
The Church used the Synod Mission Fund Grant for updating, replacing and buying new resources: football goals, footballs, sports bibs, cones, sports equipment, items of stationery, felt tip pens, glue sticks, board games, Lego and crafts materials. It also used it towards resources for sharing God’s Word: Christian tracts, Christian bookmarks, Youth Bibles, UCB Bags of Hope
Joanne Nelson, Church Safeguarding Coordinator, said:
“Our church’s mission is to take God out into our community and meet people where they are. The parents of our Youth Club children are regularly updated with the other areas of our church’s mission and are invited along to these events and clubs. We have already started to see more parents and children attend our Messy Church sessions and, our Sunday Café Church. Enhancing and updating our resources will only attract and bring in more young people and more families which will all have the opportunity to hear the Word of God.”
