Mission Grant for Malpas Community Church looks at Alternative Forms of Worship

Malpas Community Church used a recent Synod Mission Grant to set up and run alternative forms of worship. This included Café Church, Folk and Food, Christmas themed music sessions and a Lent Celebration – which featured pancakes, preaching and music.

The money was spent on ordering new Malpas Community Church logo aprons for the congregation to wear at events.  This helped people attending to identify church members and provide a fresh sense of vision and new direction amongst the apron wearers.

The aprons have been since worn at all church outreach events.

Marie Lumb, Church Secretary at Malpas Community Church, commented:

“We have been very grateful for the extra funding, which has allowed us to provide some amazing community outreach work for Malpas Community Church.

“We were also able to order two large sandwich boards, for advertising church news and events on. Whenever we have something on, we pop it on the notice boards and place them where we know there will be lots of footfall. Other spends included event and craft materials as well as food.

“All our events were well attended. We had over 100 people at the Easter Craft Day.”

Synod Mission Funds

The Synod has set aside £75,000 a year and churches can apply for a large grant of up to £25,000 a project or, using the small grant scheme, for up to £2,500 as many times as required.  There are even options for smaller amounts of around £100. Grants are for mission projects, not building projects.
