At its 2023 General Assembly, the URC celebrated 25 years of its Community Project Awards and Causeway Community Garden at St John’s URC was listed as one of the winners.

There are now 12 churches in the Mersey Synod area registered for the Eco Church awards. Seven of the churches have achieved a Bronze award and one a Silver award.

Over 100 URC (United Reformed Church) Mersey Synod members gathered at Hoole URC for a day of encouragement and to challenge how we can talk faith with each other and those we live amongst. 

Fifteen URC members and friends from across Mersey Synod recently travelled to Iona Abbey, to spend a week living in the Abbey in community, and experienced a spiritual retreat at this international, ecumenical Christian centre.

Once a month, Peasley Cross URC welcome the local community and church members to grab a brew and spend time with friends. This is just one event the church hosts as part of several community and special interest groups.

Christian Aid supporters are gearing up for a week of focussed action and prayer - and this year will be supporting families in Malawi, who are paying a harsh price for the global cost of living and climate crises.

St George's URC, Maghull, has found many opportunities for strengthening their identity and promoting community work and talking faith, after taking part in Leading your Church into Growth.

This event provides churches with an opportunity to work together in welcoming thousands of visitors to the city and to proclaim the love of God.
